Pittsburgh military veteran political training intensive

Are you a military veteran based in Pittsburgh? Have you ever contemplated stepping up to serve again through politics?  If so, you are invited to apply to participate in the Pittsburgh Military Veteran Politics Training Intensive!

What is the Intensive?

This event is a 1.5 day training in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb 9th through Sunday, Feb. 10th. It is a collaboration between the Heinz Foundation and New Politics Leadership Academy, a non-partisan non-profit dedicated to recruiting and supporting both military veterans and national service alumni to serve through politics.  

Who Can Apply?

This event is exclusively for military veterans in the Pittsburgh, PA area. If you are a veterans who has wondered if you feel called to serve through politics, this experience will help you decide if politics is the path for you. If you are already clear you want to get more politically involved; this program will provide invaluable perspective, knowledge and skills related to running effective campaigns and leading with integrity, courage, and empathy.

What Will I Learn?

Part of the program invites participants to engage in deep personal reflection around core values, mission, and personal story, as this inner clarity is a vital prerequisite to be an effective candidate. Another part of the training provides a framework for understanding how to plan and execute effective campaigns. The opportunity to connect with a community of fellow veterans with an interest in politics is another key element of the experience.

Is there a cost?

No. There is no cost to participate in the program, if accepted.

What happens then?

We will be in touch about acceptance on a rolling basis. We will send final acceptance on Monday, February 4th.
