The leaders we need
are already here.
You've spent your career serving others. We think that's exactly the experience our politics is missing — and we'd like to show you why.
Maybe you served in the military or spent a year with AmeriCorps. Maybe you went overseas with the Peace Corps or stayed home to be a teacher, a first responder, or a social worker.
After working with thousands of servant leaders like you, New Politics Academy is here to say:
Your service wasn't a detour from politics.
It was preparation for it.
See what's possible
This might be for you if...
You've served your community or country
You lead with integrity, not ego
You're frustrated by today's politics
You're curious, but uncertain
Alumni Spotlights
They were where you are now.
Real servant leaders who found clarity, community, and the courage to step forward.

His Journey
Peace Corps
Nonprofit Leader
NPA
State Rep, GA-59
Phil Olaleye
State Representative, Georgia District 59
Phil grew up in a working-class family in Stone Mountain, Georgia — the son of Nigerian and Colombian immigrants. He worked at Waffle House and Best Buy as a teenager to help support his single mother. Those early years cemented something: sacrifice matters, and every kid deserves a real shot.He carried that into the Peace Corps, then into nonprofit leadership — growing Next Generation Men & Women from 50 students to nearly 400 across six Atlanta high schools. In 2022, Phil won his seat representing Georgia's 59th District. He's since secured $23.4 million for Atlanta Technical College and authored legislation expanding housing affordability.
"Answering the Call made me a better candidate — bar none. It made me believe I had something worth saying."

Her Journey
AmeriCorps
Nonprofit Dir.
NPA
State Rep
Lindsey Burke
State Representative, KY-75
Lindsey spent her AmeriCorps year in eastern Kentucky, working with families navigating poverty and systemic barriers.
The people writing the policies had never lived the reality. Someone told her she should run. She laughed it off — until she couldn't.
NPA's Foundations gave her the framework to turn conviction into a campaign.
"Before this, I thought I might run someday. After Foundations, I knew I was running."

Her Journey
Public Defender
Legal Services
NPA
Com. Attorney
Shannon Jones
Commonwealth's Attorney, Virginia
Shannon spent a decade as a public defender, then in community legal services. She saw the justice system from the inside.
Running felt distant — until she met NPA alumni who'd navigated the same doubts she had.
"NPA connected me to people who understand why this work matters — and who'll be in your corner long after the campaign is over."
